What is it?

Tiny, sterile needles are positioned at specific points along a "meridian" (one of 12 energy lines along the body, according to ancient Chinese medicinal practices) for the purpose of treating a wide variety of conditions.

What to look for in a practitioner?

  • State licensure (L.Ac.)
  • Membership in the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM)
  • Membership in the California State Oriental Medicine Association (CSOMA)
  • Willingness to discuss and explain recommended modes and length of treatment
  • A high comfort level with the practitioner
