Personal Training
What is it?
Exercise program design, implementation and ongoing guidance and modification based on a client's unique health/fitness profile and goals. A certified trainer's course of study includes basic anatomy, physiology, kinesiology (movement science), nutrition and exercise program design
Who does it?
Clients include people interested in permanent, healthful weight loss; poorly conditioned people interested in improving their general health and physical capacities, post-rehab patients looking to regain a pre-condition level of functionality, and athletes seeking to balance a base of conditioning for improved sport performance.
What to look for in a practitioner?
- Nationally recognized certification (ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA)
- Liability insurance
- Five years or more experience in the field
- Association with other health care professionals
- Client references
- Good communication and chemistry with the client
- More information on national certifications
